Jason & Elizabeth & Minor Morris 1000!

There’s just Something about vintage cars that are different from the new-generation of flashy sports-car. Given a choice, gimme an old motor anytime! Every scratch every peeled paint tells a story..

I had the real pleasure of shooting Jason & Elizabeth and what was MORE exciting was that they are gonna have the shoot with two very special cars.
A real vintage 1957 Minor Morris that was his Gramps’, passed down to his Dad.. and now its His.. aaaahhhhh!!! A real treasure. Ohhh also this very same Morris took part in this year’s chingay too. ;D

And along for the shoot came a Land Rover. It was my first time on a Land Rover and woah! its so Different!

Jason’s dad collect antiques and he bought along some old tv set, phone and a couple of other tinkers.

Filled with gorgeous Sunshine and real vintages, I present to you.. Jason & Elizabeth & Minor Morris 1000! Enjoy!

Gerald & Adelynn – Mr & Mrs Bunny

I’ve been shooting for a year plus and at the start of every shoot, I still do get butterflies in my tummy. ‘will the couples be ok with this?’, ‘will i run outta ideas?’ ‘will i will i?’
So i was doubly nervous the morning I went out to shoot  Gerald & Adelynn, cause Gerald is a photographer too! You know he is watching and knowing what you’re doing. Haha. paranoid much.

But it turned out a breeze to shoot them (well apart from the rain that come half way)

I entitled them Mr&MrsBunny because they brought along a pair of bunnies (who have their own wedding suits as well, apparently hand-sew by Gerald. wooh!) and have similar poses to the Bunnies. cute max.

I love their outfit as well… because you see, outfit plays quite a large role in the result of the photos as well. well-though attire would bring out the best in Couples don’t they.
If you need some ideas (for the gentlemen), here’s a small sample list of Outfits for the Gentlemen  and also a small sample List of what Props to Bring.

Anyhow, here’s me presenting.. Mr & Mrs Bunny. Enjoy!

Girl behind the Camera. Rainy.

Heh. So recently been a hell of a good time. what with all the crazy shootings, back to back. but im really very disapointed.. With. The. Weather!!

I had lost count on the number of times it rain on me whenever im so hyped up on doing a shoot!

Be it one with Theme (a Sex and the City shoot!) or one with an awesome vintage Morris!!!

Also, May had been maddess with a shoot with Mommy, where we remember and celebrate MotherDays. I have got lovely babies with their pretty Moms, grownup Kids like myself with their Mothers.. it was heart-warming and fun.

I would be traveling to korean midJune with half of my family clan (a whooping 25 of us!) to take a break, you know.. eat some kimchi and maybe get a double eyelid while i’m at it. *chuckles* So meanwhile, updates would be a tad slow here cause I have another round of back-to-back shoots coming up real soon!!

xoxo
Melody

The Journey

In every shoot I does, I try my darnest to make it as meaningful and as personalized to the Couple as I can.
Not only do I aim to have a “Oh thats so pretty comment” (of course I love it), but I want the Couples’ friends to go “Oh thats so Them!” as well..

A picture tells a thousand words, how true. and here’s a Journey of a Couple thats’ told by me, through my lens..

as usual, Enjoy peeps.

Gavin & Huiling – Up the Faraway Tree

“and yup! We are done!” I said, after checking my camera screen.
“woohoo!” was Gavin and Huiling’s happy cheer..

Huiling told me it’s like her dream to have her prewedding taken on a tree.. so there we were laughing, tree climbing (with a bit of ant-chasing) and having adventures.

Jacqueline & Gerald’s Solemnization – Precious Moments (ROM)

I am someone who loves DIY stuffs. During my own wedding in dec09, I handmade a bunch of stuff, like my veil, guestbook and also my Bridal Bouquet. It’s a Crystal bouquet (which you might learn how to do HERE. Its quite simple) I love DIY stuff not only cause they are cheaper, well most of the time anyways, but cause they are so unique and personalized!!
I would hate to be exactly the same as the bride-next-door.

So imagine my excitement upon arriving at Jacqueline and Gerald’s ROM @ Seletar Country Club, Seletar Tavern. Jacqueline has to be like the most hands-on bride I ever met. The whole place was literally decorated with handmade stuff.. from the Angbao box, to the MemoryLane to the gorgeous CandyBar to the very-fun photo-booth!

The day was beautiful with blue sky, fluffy white clouds and endless rolling green meadow. Coupled with a good crowd, why, it was picture-perfect. No kidding.

A tiny tiny tip to Brides who want perfect sun on her BigDay (well, im not too sure on how well it works, but it certainly seems to be very effective on that day) is to have some Chilli & Onion around. Its like a remedy for Sunny Day! (see picture of it further down this post)

So here’s Jacqueline & Gerald’s Solemnization – Precious Moments.
Enjoy the picture peeps!

Wilson & Carrie – Baked with love

I really really like it when Couples combine their love for something with the Engagement shoots. It speaks so much about them.. About who they are, how they spent their time and enjoy doing. and today, Im sharing a shoot I had done with Wilson & Carrie.. which is their Love for baking (and nevertheless to say, each other)..

We bought out the baking tray, the icing sugar, the egg-beater and all things nice and spicey.. But with a twist, we bought everything outdoor, to a beach! (Nay, the kitchen’s too usual and expected!)

So, enjoy the pictures, peep.. Baked with Love.

Janice & Ryan & Reyna – Mommy we <3 u!

Smiles and Laughers from a happy kid is the one most beautiful thing in the world.
Time fly pass without us noticing much most of the time..
Kiddos grow up too fast!

I had a morning day-out with Janice (who’s one pretty mama, why she look like their Jiejie instead of Mummy!!), pretty Reyna and cheeky Ryan..
Usually during a shoot with Kids, I tend to move things along faster (shoot at a faster pace) cause kiddos tend to lost patient fast and when that do, well the photos wont turn out pretty~

Sometimes, kids say the darnest thing!
So i was like “let’s go and see the Swans!”
Ryan was like “what are Swans”
I was stunned for a moment wondering how to reply .. finally I said “erm. Pretty ducks” (I know I know, bad answer. but i didnt know how to reply!)

and there was the moment when Ryan was happily munching on his chips when suddenly he turned and said “I think I swallowed my tooth”
(He really did).. and he was so worried!
THOSE are such Precious Moments~

(I know im typing very randomly, pardon me.. I shall stop yapping and present the very-happy photos!)

an interview

a while back, someone contacted me for an interview (which was to be featured in a Book)..
here are some of the questions that were posted.. I figured it would be worth a read, since its all typed out! ;P

1/ When did you start Oh, Dear! Photography?
I started OhDear in March2010, afew months after my own wedding.

2/ What is the story behind the beginning of Oh, Dear! Photography?
Well, I love photography and when I got married in 2009, I had 7 engagement shoots (one was even underwater!). So after I “settled down”, I started missing styling shoots.

I really love Vintage styled photography cause I find it very different from whats usually being offered here. Hence OhDear was born. Offering happy and Natural looking vintage-styled shoots. 😉

3/ We would expect it to be tough juggling a day job and what you do with Oh, Dear! Photography! Tell us about some of your greatest challenges and what keeps you going on.
Quite! I work almost every day in fact, when I knock off from work, I am either hanging out with The Husband (yep that’s his surname, im MrsThe. Haha) or else I am editing photos. Oh I might be sleeping.
My greatest challenges would be to deliver the photos on time within the promised timeframe of 2weeks I guess. (I had never missed a deadline before. Choy!) ‘Cause I know brides are always very “gan chiong” about seeing their photos.. So I try not to drag…
What keeps me going? The cheesy answer would be ‘The LOVE from my Husband!’ haha. Nay its also the appreciation I get from my couples. Some of them would sms/email me telling me how they love the photos. I received gifts from some of my couples too. Like print out photos, handmade cards, chocolates etc. All these shows that my hardwork are worth it cause they had made people happy! =D

4/ On the other hand, what are some of the greatest satisfactions from your job as a wedding photographer?
When my couples sms/email me telling me about how they love the outcomes. When they post their photos on Facebooks and people were saying how great it is. Yes yes, very ego-stroking. Haha but at least I know people are appreciating my effort and work!

5/ What do you think sets Oh, Dear! Photography apart from other wedding photography services out there?
Firstly, I am a female. That’s quite different already cause a lot are guys out there. Hmm I would say the ‘Feel’ of my photos. I tend to take more “LOL” and silly-cute photos that would be quite girly. Unlike the current tread of arty-looking photos (which are great! Just not my style)

6/ We are in love with the vintage touch that Oh, Dear! Photography specialises in! Is there a special reason for making vintage a focus?
Yes. I dunno about you guys, But I LOVE flipping through my parent’s old wedding album. I love the slight rusty smell of it, I love the warm yellowish tone of it. Most of all, I love the timeless feel of it.
That’s how weddings should be. Timeless.
I might be an old soul trapped in a 20 sometime body. Lets just say I like old stuffs.

Oh, I listen to the beatles a lot when im editing. Heh..

7/ What is the one thing/element that is consistent in all your pictures?
HAPPINESS! Laughters! And natural lightings.

8/ Please tell us how many satisfied couples you’ve had over the years!
Ahh, that would be impossible to count. HAHA!

Random Facts?
I am Melody The Lin. (because The is my husband’s family name)

I am 26years old this year.

I love chocolates.
I love my two hamsters.
I don’t believe in big ass cameras and flashes.
I hate bean sprout.
I listen to The Beatles.
I am currently listening to StandByMe cause this shoot Im editing right now reminds me of this song.

=D

The Lovelies

We celebrate, we cry and we laugh.. Here’s a Sista Shoot to commemorate the Importance of Friendship..

It was so fun shooting them cause it felt more like a Girls Day out rather then “working”.. Specially the part where I made them walk across the railway track and they were shouting “please call 190012345 to support!”

It was all I could do to hold the camera steady cause I was laugh so hard!

THANKS you Lovelies! ♥

in the Enchanted Forest.. up the Faraway Tree!

Here’s something lovely for this warm sleepy Tuesday.
Up the Faraway Tree for an adventure!

Zandy + Jonathan + Shan – We are Family!

“To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.”
