Bridal Shoot

Edwin & Adeline – Just because I Love You

one of the first place that I did my shoot at is this beautiful meadow near Hort Park. It’s actually in the mid of nowhere thats quite inaccessible unless you’re driving.

I discovered this gem of a place when I was shooting my own Engagement photos, (my friend helped me with this, with a super retro film camera, but that’s a post for another day)
The greens are always gorgeous, sun is always beautiful there.. Only lacking thing is unicorns and rainbows. HAHA.

So I was glad when Adeline & Edwin choose this place to shoot part1 of their photos, brilliant. I love her gown and I love the whole mood of the photo..
Part2 was a totally different feel. A very city-feel which I think makes a fab contrast to the green photos. ;) ) Enjoy the photos guy~

Yusoff & Sharifah’s Surprise Engagement Party

This is the sweestest proposal shoot I had ever done. Everything was so carefully planned and beautiful. Seriously, I wanted to cry sometime during the shoot itself.

It was Sharifah’s birthday and Yusoff secretly booked a yacht, invited her friends along and even hired a wedding gown for her. We got her to close her eyes while Yusoff walked her to the yacht.

The sun although set a wee bit early, but the night was still magical enough.
Yusoff proposed to Sharifah just as the fireworks well off.. with 99Roses nonetheless!!

Like a real-life fairytale lah!!

Ok abit from my side would be, it’s my first time up on a private yacht, I was uber excitied and nervous at the same time. I wont lie and say it’s a breeze to shoot (although it was very windy on board).. The yacht was bummy, wet and slippery and I had to perform.. Well, at the very least, Thanks the gods I am not sea-sick-prone.. But luckily for me, Both Sharifah and Yusoff were extremely not-camera-shy! So I can pretty much say we Rocked the Shoot.

Now for photos….

Prewedding at Bali with Niki & Jaycee – Day1

This is going to be one long post, in fact Im staring at a blank white screen wondering where to start! Ok.. I met up with Niki and Jaycee during mid year to discuss about their prewedding and we ended up deciding on Bali. So after months of emails/liasing and researches, we decided on the locations and concepts.

So came Nov and we were all so excited to go Bali! It was my first visit there and I frankly, didn’t know what to expect. Some of the most memorable moments would be like -

- when I asked Niki what colour is her gown, her reply was “toenail colour”. I stunned for a while before glancing down. Ohh Turquoise. (because they were didn’t like the too-normal white gowns)
- when it was raining VERY heavily along the way to padang-padang beach and yet, the rain stopped the moment we reached and stepped onto the beach..
- when we were laughing at jokes and singing along in the car while on the way to the next shooting location
- when we first met the camels and when the smell hit us

Countless countless awesome memories and am I glad I met such a lovely and fun Couple. If I were to say so, I think we rocked the shoot at Bali, despite the gloomy rainy weather. Why, we hit almost 1000 pictures. and was it a hard time selecting the photos.

I would definitely go back to Bali, be it shoot or leisure. It’s too beautiful an island.
Here are some of my favorite images from Day1. (day2 and day3 to come consecutively)

Lilian & Jason – Scientists’ Love Formula

I shot Lilian & Jason a few months back, when the KTM track was still around..
Saddly, the tracks now has been demolised and (send back to malaysia?) the place now is just a flat piece of land. Sigh.. ={

Anyway, enjoy this series from Lilian & Jason, who are both super brainy scientists! Hence the mini-shoot in lab and lab-coats. =D!

David & Melissa’s – What are Words when it’s Love

It was my first time shooting at MBS area, yes I know.. sloow! In fact, it was my second time there only! Because normally I prefer shooting at greeny places or buildings that are older, and I thought MBS might be too flashy and new. Boy was I wrong. I love the result of these pictures, plus I think the HotPink gown really adds a pop to all these photos. What do you think?

And.. I must had repeated myself countless of times, but i always always try to tell a story when shooting preweddings and Engagement. The last location for this series was shot at the very place this lovely couple knew each other. Learning guitar.. so please enjoy this series.. What are Words when it’s Love.

Jus & Alvin – Love is Fun and Goofy!

I had the pleasure of shooting Justie and Alvin’s part2 Prewedding. This fun and wacky Couple took part1 of their shoot in Taiwan, so they wanted something more fun, less serious and also with their doggie (you can hardly pack a puppy into a suitcase can you?)

^ I thought this picture is hilarious. Puppy was all like -__-’ ”Are we done yet?”

^ (This was actually just a Test-Shot.. Meaning I was testing the settings on my camera.. But i love the turn out.. slightly outta focus, but enough to see the elegant smile.. )

^ Blown Away. Literally.

Keith & Peggy – Decided on Forever.

There’s one of my ‘favouritest’ set (is there such a word?) of Prewedding. It was a pretty boiling HOT day but hey the sun was golden! I had such fun.

Well, the shoot would not be half as successful without the couple trusting me, and I think another half goes to the assistants.. they are like the unseen Heros of any shoots. Helping to fluff the gown, blow the bubbles and maybe even chasing away people who are blocking us. So a small tip to brides hoping to have a fun and easy prewedding or Engagement shoot, get one of your Bff or a sister along to help~ She can help to adjust any falling straps or hold the bouquet or just be there to help you feel at ease. =D (of course I help I will with the falling straps too. =P)

meanwhile, as usual, enjoy the pictures peep. =D

^ Tiny Detail tells a story too.. every petal, every smile and the Gown’ delicate patterns..

^ Beautiful Expressive Eyes.

^ This is my favourite-est-est photo in the whole series. I shall try my best to explain..

 I love how the whole background looks like a set from my childhood fairytale stories. No matter the age, I guess a girl still do cherish those precious tales. So yes, im not the least bit abash to say I feel this feels like a English Palace Garden, with our Princess and Prince ‘s Happily Ever After! =}

here’s something a little different from the usuals.. Sparkles Flying.. Quite literally!

And lastly, here’s me and the Couple.. Oh and the ‘Unseen Heros’ of the shoot, the assistants. =D Big Thanks..

Oh also, I had made a tiny behindTheScene video of this lovely shoot on my Facebook, You might be interested in seeing how ‘Bubbles are Made’. Click HERE!

Lyanna & Colin – rewinding & forwarding the TimeBar

I had the pleasure of shooting Colin & Lyana a while back.
I like to think of the shoot as rewinding the TimeBar because we had a shanghai theme where Lyanna don the most gorgeous QiPao. I think to carry out a QiPao, not only do you need a slender frame, there’s a certain feel to it too. Womanly? Graceful? Whatever magica it is, I think Lyanna brought it out very well. Colin is great too of course. Heh.

Forwarding the timebar, we went back to where the couple knew each other. NUS..
So here’s their very lovely and serene Engagement Shoot. Enjoy..

some sneak previews from Wilson & Nara

I must had said this a couple of times, but do follow us on OhDear Facebook because i update there much much more frequently.. http://www.facebook.com/ohdearphotography

I cant believe 3/4 of 2011 had passed when I still feel that 2010 is the future.. What’s wrong with me. Trapped in a TimeWarp thats it.. anyway, a tiny “annoucement”, we are fully booked for whole of this year2011.. In fact, we had been fully booked and had closed bookings couple of months back..
we have yet to open bookings for next year, Im still finalizing some personal stuffs.. *exciting plans for me!*

I would be going to Bali this Nov for a prewedding shoot. yes im extremely excitied! meanwhile, here’s a beautiful shoot from last weekend.. Wilson & Nara..
These are just Sneak peeks, I have yet to finish the whole album. But Im excitied.. me think its gorgeous!! ;D!

Felicia & James – A story of Bustops & Calculators Part1

Felicia and James are the last Couple I took to the now-history-KTM railway station.
Also, they are the first couple who used PokerCards as props. It was so funny because the KTM station was so crowded and we literally had to elbow our way around, stop people from snapping photos of “The Wedding Couple” and also throw pokerCards around.. =D

My couples always ask me what is the best time for shoots.. Well in my case, I would say Morning! As early as possible! Yes I know I know, it kills me to wake up at 6am too (shoot is 8am!) but the morning sun is really gorgeous.. and the greens are always dewy and shiny with morning dews.. Beautiful.

So anyway, enjoy this shoot peeps.

The Journey

In every shoot I does, I try my darnest to make it as meaningful and as personalized to the Couple as I can.
Not only do I aim to have a “Oh thats so pretty comment” (of course I love it), but I want the Couples’ friends to go “Oh thats so Them!” as well..

A picture tells a thousand words, how true. and here’s a Journey of a Couple thats’ told by me, through my lens..

as usual, Enjoy peeps.

Gavin & Huiling – Up the Faraway Tree

“and yup! We are done!” I said, after checking my camera screen.
“woohoo!” was Gavin and Huiling’s happy cheer..

Huiling told me it’s like her dream to have her prewedding taken on a tree.. so there we were laughing, tree climbing (with a bit of ant-chasing) and having adventures.

Back from 1909 miles away

hey peeps,
So sorry for the seemingly lack of updates! If you’r on my facebook, you would know I’m just back from a prewedding at Taiwan, Taipei. and Man.. I cant wait to share the photos with you guys!! The shoot was awesome~ I mean, the weather is perfect, the scenery’s gorgeous and the locals are SO friendly! and Mabel and Roger rocks of course! Sorry I cant help raving. Heh.

So here’s two sneaks from the shoot..

Yvonne & Jacob – Married for God

Have you guys been to the Singapore National Museum before? You must if you haven! Its gorgeous.. Cooling (aircon!) and beautiful interiors, the ceiling are glass, hence there are natural sunlight. *love!* Well you would love too, specially if you are wearing your gown and standing under the baking sun. X_x

Right, so this series of Yvonne and Jacob were taken in the National Museum. Did I mention I love the tall long windows.. with golden sunshine pouring in? Enjoy!

a Golden Couple’s Golden Morning

Wayne and Anzeal are both so photogenic and romantic! They met at NIE and within a year, they had decided they are made for each other.. and they would be tying the knot soon~ aww. When you know, you know. Right?

So, although it rained abit while we were shooting but we managed to rock the shoot (if I say so myself!) Infact, the sun came out strong and golden after a while. Yay. and would you believe it, Anzeal did her own hair and makeup. Wooh.
Here are some of the selecteds, I had a hard time choosing my favourites.. Hope you like them!

Ohh Wayne and Anzeal, have a blissful marriage!!

Ten Ten Ten Ten – Double Happiness!

Let’s sing-along now ”Ten ten ten ten, ten ten ten ten” (To the tune of Here Comes The Bride)

Yeah! I am singing talking about yesterday 10.10.10, where there were a total of 830 couples tying the knot. Sweet!

Here’s a gorgeous bride I shot yesterday, during her ROM…

In case you are wondering, yes its Summer. I shot her Engagement shoots.
You might see it Here and Here.
(More pictures of their lovely wedding coming along the way!)

Oh also, 10.10.10 ’s a good day because it’s my loving husband’s 29th Birthday and here I’m writing something dedicated to him.. he’s so sweet and annoying at the same time, he fluff my pillows for me at night, tuck me in to bed and listen to my endless rants and complains. although he leave dirty shirts on the floor sometimes, leave the toilet seat up sometimes or annoy me by doing the chicken-little-dance a lot of times.. I love him all the same.
i love how he is shy, how he is daring, how kind he is and how strong he is.
Thank you my love, thank you for all that and for providing me a strong shoulder to lean on (and to punch on when im angry!)

Coffee Table Album

In the Mood for 2047

Bridal shoot is something very common in the states.. Mostly due to the fact that most US brides buy their own gowns and hence they want a shoot with their gown before it’s.. well squeezed into the back of the closet never to see the daylight again after the wedding. >_<

here’s a very moody Bridal Shoot we did with Serena.. Not our usual happy-in-sunshine series, but nonetheless we LOVE it. ♥
It was shot during the night with no flash or whatsoevers at Clubstreet (thats if you wanna ask) :P

Thank you lovely Serena!

DIY bridal – Pearl & Crystal Bouquet + Boutonnieres

Here’s an instruction on how to DIY a Pearl & Crystal Bridal Bouquet (& Boutonnieres).
(I DIY-ed this pearl Bouquet for my wedding during dec09 and ‘wow’ alot of my guests. Hope its useful to the other brides-to-bes who might wanna try something different from the usual out-of-mill fresh flowers..)

What you will need:
- 10 packs of silver wiring (This really depends on how big you want your bouquet to be. I used up 8packs. Got mine from Chinatown GoldDragon)
- Handicraft Pearls (Again depends on how big you want your bouquet to be.)
- Handicraft Crystal Beads (This can be replaces with anything else you fancy. Say Diamontes or rhinestone works well too)
- White Silk Ribbons about 3cm thick (Thicker ribbons make it easier to wrap the stems of the bouquet)
- Charm (Optional, I used the Chinese Character ‘Xi’. but it can be anything, vintage rings, swans, more crystals. up to you.)
 _________________________________________________________

Instructions:
Step 1: Twist One pearl into One Wire (see drawing – Step1)

Step 2: Keep repeating step 1 untill you get desired size of bouquet.
Step 3: Bound all the wire+Pearls together (see drawing – Step2)

Step4: Tie all the wirings up with ribbon (I had approximately 200pearlwirings + -)

Its really easy to bunch them together to form this “round mushroom shape”.
What I did was to place them ALL together in a vase and hold them tightly together.
(The outter part would naturally bend down to form the round shape. Ahh Im bad in describing it, you have to Do it to understand what I meant)

I tied the whole bunch with rubber bands and string (to secure them you see) before going around the whole thing with a thick satin Ribbon.

_________________________________________________________
As for the DIY Groom Boutonnieres

Its the same thing. Just snip off the wire to about 18cm and repeat Step1. This means that the boutonniere will be about 8cm. If you want a longer Boutonnieres, just snip off less of the wiring. Hope im making sense here.
Make about 12Pearl+Wiring and tie it up with ribbon
Trim the ends and Horray you are done!

(Updated: I’m really glad this DIY Crystal-Pearl Bridal Bouquet is such an inspiration to you brides-to-be out there.. Please do add photos of your completed bouquet Here at OhDear Fan Page! (I would LOVE to see!!) Maybe include some helpful tips to other Brides out there? ;D)
